OLLY OLLY SERVICES

Home Organizing

Small or big jobs, I sort, edit, and rework spaces to make them not only look better but work better for you, too.

  • Sorting/Organizing

  • Clutter removal
  • Donation

  • All areas of your home, garage, or office.

  • Decluttering for real estate photos.

Editing

Do you have more stuff than what can comfortably fit in the space? Duplicates of things you knew you bought, couldn't find, so bought it again (and now no longer want)? Clothes you once wore, but haven't put on in years and have no intention of doing so again. I'm here to help you part with things that are no longer serving you.

A great service not only for your sanity in seeing the floor of your closet again, but it’s also rather helpful if you’re needing help with downsizing for an upcoming move.

Need to donate books? FOTL will take them! Check out their site to see what can be donated, sorry encyclopedias, you're out.

Goodwill

With numerous locations across Wichita, this is a super convenient spot to drop off your excess stuff.

Salvation Army

(816) 756-1455

Definitely call the local office before dropping off any items, save you a trip if what you've got they don't want.

Wichita ReStore

Excellent spot to drop off any housewares you may have that are cluttering up your space - used furniture, decor, lighting, rugs, tools, etc.

There are several organizations to give, simply do a search online and see what would work best for you.

Wichita Shredding

1930 N. Ohio Ave.

So you've got a sea of papers that you can't handle on your own? Give these folks a call and get a quote.

Not like the quote commitment, check out a UPS Store. They do charge by the pound, but swinging by one of their locations on the fly might be more up your alley.

Household Hazardous Waste

801 Stillwell

(316) 660-7458

Think old paint, batteries, florescent lights, old medicines, etc. that you know need to be discarded safely. Call them if you have something you know needs to be handled by a professional but you don't know if they'll take it (for instance CRT TVs).

Speaking of, Best Buy can take CRT TVs - they actually recycle quite a bit – TVs, refrigerators, random wires, your cell phone, etc. Some fees may apply for their services.

Need more info on recycling? Here's a great list to reference for Sedgwick County

Have items you want to sell?
I hear good things about Facebook Marketplace, you might try that. eBay has worked well for me and I've had good luck with Craigslist, too. Selling stuff online or at a classic garage sale can take a lot of effort. If you want to do it and are motivated, go for it! But seeing that you're here, the chances are you've been talking about selling whatever item(s) for a long time. It might be time to donate or toss and move on.

If you have A LOT of larger items, you might consider reaching out to an estate sale business, They could do the work for you, for a fee, of course.

The Process

You'll reach out and make contact, we'll discuss the job and I'll answer any questions you may have. Initial appointments are for a 4-hour block, which may seem like a lot of time, but it's really an adequate amount to either get a good start on something big or finish a smaller project. If 4 hours ends up being too much, we can always put the remainder to use another day or for another project.

I'll come the day and time that we have scheduled, we'll talk a little bit more about the project once I'm there, and then, we'll jump in and get started. I say "we" because you may or may not want to be hands-on. Some people are, some aren't. Either way works.

By the end of our time, if you're donating items, I'll happily take one car load per session, I will drop off items at Goodwill or Salvation Army and will collect a receipt for your records.

I am not a cleaning person. Of course, I will clean-up the area that I'm working in, but as far as typical cleaning services go, that isn't the service I provide.

So how much does all of this cost anyway? Click on the button to head to pricing.

Resources

I can't speak highly enough about the book, The Hoarder in You by Dr. Robin Zasio. It's not for hoarding only, it's for anyone who has stuff. And that's everyone! She offers up awesome encouragement, understanding, and ideas for how to move forward. If you're a reader, I definitely suggest checking it out.

The Life Changing Art of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo, highlighting her KonMari method, is also a solid read. I don't find it to be as practical in the long run, but it's certainly motivating and the inspiring push you might need.

The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning by Margareta Magnusson, is a short read on "how to free yourself and family from a lifetime of clutter." In a nutshell, plan ahead and do the work now, in order to make life easier for your loved ones after your'e gone.

YouTube - Marriage & Motherhood did an awesome job of talking about the process of hiring an organizer and having lots of struggles that you might be able to relate to. She's got kids, marriage, a home, a career, all of the things to juggle.
